Christmas at the Palace at Palace of the Governors- December 7, 2018. Christmas festivities don’t just mean tradition, but also community. Welcome an evening of hot cider, cookies, live music, pinatas, craft-making activities, and a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Claus–all in the historic enchantment of the Palace of the Governors- walking distance from Pueblo Bonito b&b inn. Las Posadas at New Mexico History Museum- December 9, 2018. Reenactment of the Christ family, Mary and Joseph searching for lodging as it’s time to give birth to baby Jesus. The procession begins at the St Francis Cathedral and ends at the Palace of the Governors courtyard with carols and refreshments. Walk from Pueblo Bonito b&b down the historic Old Santa Fe Trail to begin the procession or watch on the plaza-either way- a 7 minute walk! (No hassle parking as we offer free and guaranteed our paying guests in our on site lot!).
Santa Fe Winter Indian Market- December 15 – 16, 2018. 200+ artists from across US and Canada converge on La Fonda Hotel creating a busyness of exhibits of unique artworks and crafts. Festival of Trees fundraiser & silent auction throughout the weekend with a special opening celebration are included. Canyon Road Farolito Walk – The highlight of Christmas Eve. Beginning at dusk Christmas Eve this highly anticipated and beloved Christmas Eve tradition lights up hearts and brings out the best in our souls. Downtown city streets close and create a safe place for people to stroll this famous road. Canyon Road merchants decorate street and walkways with farolitos (small, sand-filled bags with votive candles) and luminarias (bonfires) while joyous sounds of carols and friends and families greet each other. An unspoken, yet graceful peace fills the city and seemingly all the cares of life seem to melt away, if not just for an enchanted moment- peace and goodwill abounds among mankind on the streets of Santa Fe.
Midnight Mass at St. Francis Cathedral on Christmas Eve. A stunning historic cathedral featuring New Mexican Spanish Colonial art influences such as retablos (religious paintings done on wood) and more create an indescribable holy atmosphere for worship Christmas Eve. Doors open at 10:30pm (arrive early). While waiting enjoy Lessons and Carols beginning at 11pm in Conquistadora Chapel to the left at the front of the cathedral.

New Year Santa Fe- December 31. Zia dropping and Fireworks on the plaza! In the spirit of ushering the New Year, Santa Feans and visitors alike ajourn to the central gathering place (the plaza) and at countdown to midnight as the state symbol (the zia) drops (similar to time square)! The mayor and other dignitary are in attendance to address the crowd with well wishes for the new year- a small celebration ushers out the past and in the future as the sky is lit by a fireworks display! Free family event.
