The French gambling market is preparing for regulatory overhaul, after the successful partial sale of state lottery Française des Jeux’s (FDJ) began a chain of events that will eventually lead to the creation of a new regulator.

However overall oversight of the casino sector will continue to be managed by the Ministry of Interior.

The French Council of Ministers has said that the ANJ will focus on the fight against excessive gambling in its work with land-based casinos, but that other areas of oversight will continue to sit with the interior ministry.
