The 2019 TDA Poker Rules are available in both Word docx and PDF files. Both are also available in a full “Longform” version and a condensed “Short Form” version. The Longform contains rules, recommended procedures, and a large illustration addendum. Short Form contains rules only in a landscape layout that can be printed both sides for “pocket size” convenience. The Longform “Redlines” version contains changes from the 2017 Rules.
When you enter a game, you must make a full buy-in for that particular game. A full buy-in at limit poker is at least 10 times the maximum bet for the game being played, unless. Texas Hold'em No-limit and pot-limit games, without exception. In limit games, when there are three or more players involved and all players have not gone all-in, games with two betting rounds (draw or lowball) will allow a bet, plus four raises. In a game which involves three or more betting rounds, the maximum raises allowed are three.
A tournament will usually end during a round when the big blind reaches 5-10% of the total chip count. For example, a 20 person tournament with each person starting with $5000 will have a total chip count of $100,000. The tournament should end when the big blind is between $5000 and $10,000. A 25 person tournament will usually last 3-4 hours.
Ultimate Texas Hold'em® is a poker-based casino game in which the player may make one raise at any time during the course of the hand. The earlier the raise is made the higher it may be. Unlike other poker-based games, raises made after the ante still have action, even if the dealer doesn't open. In order to start betting in Hold’em, forced bets (known as blinds) are made by the two players immediately clockwise from the dealer button. The person immediately clockwise from the dealer has the small blind, and the next player clockwise has the big blind. Making blind bets is known as posting and this is done.

TDA Recommended Procedures are included in all longform documents above and may also be found on the Poker TDA Forum. TDA Recommended Procedures are intended as policy suggestions and general guidelines that can reduce errors and enhance tournament management. They also may apply to situations that have too many variations to address with one universal rule. The fairest ruling in these cases may require use of multiple rules, evaluation of all circumstances, and reliance on Rule 1 as a primary guide.
